The scholarly study, published in the July 2011 problem of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, analyzed a national database of biopsy specimens. More than 100,000 individuals experienced a biopsy of the tiny intestine, but only 35 % of these acquired at least four samples used, which is the number suggested by the American Medical Association. Adhering to the suggested four biopsy samples increases the rate of medical diagnosis of celiac disease seven-fold.
